Diponegoro University students won 1st place in the 2017 LKTI DSC at Diponegoro University. The student representatives were chaired by Dwi Sulistyanto (21030115120003) with members Febio Dalanta (21030115120008) and Fredy Arief Senjaya (21030115120018) from the Department of Chemical Engineering. LKTI DSC 2017 is a scientific writing competition for national level students with the theme “The Role of Young Scientists in Developing Natural Resources Potential through Appropriate Technology Innovations to Realize Sustainable Development Goal’s (SDG’s) 2030”. This event was organized by RIC (Research Incubator Center) Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University. The flow of this competition activity begins with abstract registration, selection of full paper papers, and ends with the grand final event.

This competition lasts for 3 days, on 27-29 October 2017. On 27 October 2017, there will be a Technical Meeting for a technical explanation of the presentation which will be held on 28 October 2017. At the grand final on 28 October 2017, the participants presented their writing results in front of 3 judges, and on the last day 29 October 2017 a national seminar with the theme “Open Your Mind and Discover Innovation with Science and Technology for Sustainable Development Goals 2030” took place with several speakers including Dr. Warsito Purwo Taruno (inventor of the anti-cancer helmet), Prof. Dr. Ir. Ambariyanto, M,Sc. (Vice Chancellor IV UNDIP), and Dr. Ratno Nuryadi, M. Eng. (Inventor of the Nanoscope). Moderated by Dr. Muhammad Nur, DEA (Plasma Expert).

The scientific writing that was able to bring the Undip delegation to the first place was entitled “Modification of Purple Sweet Potato Flour (Ipomoea batatas l.) with the Fermentation Process Using Lactic Acid Bacteria as an Effort for Food Diversification”. It is hoped that the achievements of Undip Engineering students will continue to be carved in the following years in various competitions.
