Faculty of Engineering – Five undergraduate students of Chemical Engineering at Diponegoro University (Undip) created the product innovation “CASTURI”, an antibacterial smartphone case made from nanosilver and ketapang leaves. This product is able to be an effective solution for the millennial generation to protect themselves from bacteria that stick to smartphones.
The five students are Galih Wiji Agung, Fakhri Santo Khoirudin, Risya Ulaya Maghfirah, Umi Widi Astuti, and Wakhyu Nur Afni under the guidance of lecturer Noer Abyor Handayani, S.T., M.T. This product received funding assistance from the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the 5 Field Student Creativity Program (PKM) in 2021.
The product “CASTURI” has passed the laboratory test of the Banyumas Health Office and is proven to be able to kill germs and bacteria. Therefore, mass production and marketing have been carried out. Marketing is done offline and online through Shopee, Tokopedia, WhatsApp Business, and Instagram. The price of Casturi products is IDR 30,000.00. In the first Pre Order which was held on 21-24 July 2021, Casturi managed to sell 16 Casing products. The plan is that we will do a second open order on August 3, 2021.
“CASTURI” has advantages over antibacterial smartphone case products on the market, including an affordable price and an environmentally friendly manufacturing process. The use of ketapang leaf biosynthesis makes the smartphone case have double protection against bacteria.
